Bethesda. Thank you! Finally, The New Starfield trailers are OUT!

Not one, or two but THREE trailers for the highly anticipated game from the franchise.

The new Starfield game has attracted a lot of hype around it ever since it was just a trademark, to being officially announced by Bethesda Game Studios and Microsoft in the Xbox Showcase in June, even before the Showcase. Rumors and leeks were all over it, to the point that fans were able to get sneak peeks of the game's merchandise before the official announcement. Yeah, like we have never seen that before in the gaming industry...

Now every Xbox fan has had a few interesting years lately with the franchise, from the releases of their next-gen consoles, the Series X and S, the hit and misses of the triple-A titles, to the ups and downs of the Activation deal. That's a lot to take for a community who have been looking for that one thing to show off to their famous rivals Sony and Nintendo.

That's the role the new Bethesda game will play. It's an upcoming action, open-world RPG game from the Studios, different from what they have given gamers in the past, and gamers are excited with the way it looks. But all that excitement hasn't been channeled positively in the past few weeks. Gamers have been losing their minds and raising red flags over the lack of hands-on time with the game. The marketing has been quiet to the point that people were worried if it is as good as the studios made it out to be in the Showcase.

Now it might still be a flop, it's a possibility but I doubt it.

Bethesda has had a few controversial releases in the past, for example, Fallout 4. The game received mixed reviews. Some people thought it was a letdown. I disagree with that opinion though. Let me get that out of the way. I liked the game, I did. The game sold 12 million copies in its first week. That's insane for a single-player RGB in 2015! But it can't be ignored that those opinions mattered in the overall rating of the game. Now the way things have been going, people were starting to see some similarities between the quietness and the moves the studio was taking. It is the same marketing track as Fallout 4. We can not have the same massive letdown as the Fallout 4 saga. We simply can not! Starfield’s showcase was truly promising and exciting for fans.

The lack of preview and hands-on gameplay was enough to make some people worried. The only thing we had as a community was the 45-minute HEAVILY curated preview by IGN to get a smidge of what the game has to offer. And for some that didn’t even qualify as a preview as we have seen in the past, most previews ran for at least 2 hours for some games. For us to not even get half of that time was not a good sign. Gamers wanted to see open previews, where other gamers and content creators test and try out the game but Bethesda was not having it. Everything has been closed off.

Phil Spencer has said that every QA tester at Microsoft is in on Starfield, and to me, that meant that they do not need outside testers for the game. They have seen enough from them to trust and back the game which might be the reason behind the so-called “caginess” on their part. To be honest, I wasn't worried and I am still not worried but again for some, that's not it. They want the game to be all over the place. They want to ensure that the bugs and glitches are called out before the release. I kind of understand where they were coming from but patience is and has always been a virtue. Having the best previews and reviews before release doesn't necessarily spell out the full life cycle for the game. Take Redfall for example, no one dragged it out when it had a preview of like an hour and a half because as we all know some games start well but as you continue with them, they just don't do well enough. To put it simply, you just can not tell with these games. Creators and enthusiasts need to relax, we need to stop being greedy. Bethesda Studios is a company and usually, these companies know what they are doing. For me, I felt and still feel like Microsoft and Bethesda were doing this intentionally to drive hype, pre-orders and game pass subscriptions by keeping things closed off.

Now trailers are out. In one day we have been blessed with THREE beautiful animated trailers with a kind of anime style to them. I'm a huge anime fan so that was a bonus too. These three trailers go across the three major cities that we have heard about throughout the game's marketing cycle which are Oculus City, New Atlantis and Neon "The pleasure city".

Let me start with the Where Hope Is Built trailer which focuses on Oculus City. The trailer is described as Vana an Oculus City orphan of the famous Colony Wars who desperately wants to explore the stars and only one thing stands in her way: a broken ship. Her search for repair parts leads her throughout the city, and into some unexpected danger, as she closes in on her dream. At the beginning of the trailer, we see Vana eyeing down a rusted ship that needs a part to get running again and it does show Vana's parents which then leads to her reflecting upon her parents when seeing a statue that I believe is commemorating the colony wars. The whole trailer shows her parents dying in battle during the war and we also see some Mech suits in it which weren't shown in the showcase. This might be another potential gameplay mechanic we do not know but if it is. A lot of people are going to be happy. As the trailer wraps up she helps an older man who is being held up at gunpoint and he offers her money after saving him but she declines it and instead takes the missing piece of her spaceship to repair it and heads out to the stars.

The second trailer is called The Hand That Feeds which is based around Neon the place that most gamers are looking forward the most into exploring. The trailer is described as Two Neon street rats, Ada and Harper, who are partners in crime inking out a living stealing from the wealthy partygoers that come to the "pleasure city" to let loose. When Ada is forced into a moral dilemma, she quickly catches the attention of the all-seeing Ryujin industries, bringing her an exciting new opportunity. But at what cost? So basically to me, this was Starfield's cyberpunk animation style, the whole vibe to it. The edge of the pier shot of Ada and Harper looking out to the edge of the planet reminded me of David and Lucy's moon shot staring at Earth in Cyberpunk. The whole trailer reminds me of Cyberpunk from the corporation Ryujin Industries and Arasaka, the crime-based faction similarities. The whole theme in general.

The last trailer we got is called Supra At Ultra which is Latin for above and beyond. This one is focused on the new Atlantis City. The one city we have seen most of since according to Bethesda is the biggest city that they've ever made. The trailer is described as being in the city of New Atlantis, the capital of the United Colonies, Kent, a courier pilot, aspires to live in the most desirable part of the settled systems. After joining the UC Vanguard and working his way up to the capital's elite, Kent quickly realizes the adventures waiting for him off-planet is what he truly longed for. Now this is the trailer with the most views online and for a good reason. It is based on the City we have been seeing all this time and Bethesda has not been shy about telling us how big it is.

Now with all the trailers out and we edging closer to the release date of the game. We are going to start seeing more and more of this and everyone who has been so impatient is going to be enjoying every moment of it until the game is out. All the people that have been questioning the moves the Studio and Microsoft have been taking should just relax. This game is not small at all. It's a huge game. Content creators and enthusiasts will have enough time with it and I doubt they will be disappointed but let me not jinx it. For us, the community it's about time we have ourselves another exclusive game that we can just add to the ones we already got that Sony or Nintendo doesn't have. We are also still praying for the Activation deal to go through🙏
